Greeting Card Layout

• Setting Up Your Page Properties – Setting up your greeting card page properties is the first step to creating your very own greeting card. These properties will determine the size and layout of your greeting card. Open the page properties by clicking Create Blank Page.  Change the size of the page to what you want and select the fold type. Click the OK button located at the bottom of the box and the blank greeting card will open in the main greeting card program.

• Viewing Your Pages – You will now need to know how to navigate through your pages. When creating your own card, you will have to edit each page of the card. You will see a Pages panel on the far left side of the Greeting Card Builder program. Depending on the type of fold you selected, you will have two to four pages in this panel. Clicking each page will allow you to view each page. This is how you will navigate through the pages to edit them.

Greeting Card Background

• Opening the Background Panel – Next, we will open the backgrounds panel in Greeting Card Builder. Do this by clicking the Project tab at the very top of Greeting Card Builder. On the far right side of the program will be a Template panel. Go to the very bottom of the panel and click the Backgrounds tab.

• Applying Backgrounds – Now you can start applying backgrounds to your greeting card to see which one you like the most. Before you begin applying backgrounds, you can change the BackType at the top of the panel. Click the box to drop it down and click All. That will allow you to see all of the backgrounds. To apply a background, double click the one you want to use. You can try the different backgrounds by double clicking them.

• Adjusting Backgrounds – When you apply backgrounds, you will probably have to do a bit of adjusting. Click the Tile drop down box and select how you want to apply the background. You can also move the Type bar to adjust the background. You will probably have to play around with the settings to get the background the way you want it.

Greeting Card Photos

• Opening Photo Panel – The photo panel will need to be opened, before you can go any further. The panel can be opened by clicking the Add Pieces tab located at the very top of Greeting Card Builder. That will show the photo panel on the far right side of the greeting card software program.

• Locating Photos – Next, we are going to locate the photos that will be used in the greeting card. To do this, browse for the folder in the top, right panel that your photos are saved in. Click the folder and the photos from that folder will appear in the bottom, right panel.

• Adding Photos – To add a photo, click the photo and drag it to the page. If you are adding more than one photo, you can add all of the photos you want before moving on.

• Editing Photos – Once the photos are added, editing can begin. With the editing tool, you can crop the photos, apply drop shadows to the photos, remove the frame from the photo, rotate the photo, and resize the photo.

Cropping Photo – Right click on the photo and select Crop from the drop down menu. In the new box that opens, place the crop box over the part of the photo you want to keep. The box can be resize by grabbing a corner and dragging it inward or outward. When you are ready to crop the photo, click the Crop button.

Apply Drop Shadows – Right click on the photo you want to apply the drop shadow to and select Drop Shadow in the menu. In the drop shadow settings box, you can adjust the settings and apply them by clicking OK.

Remove Frame – When you add a photo to the greeting card, you will notice a big, black frame around the photo. This is a frame applied by default. To remove this frame, right click the photo and click Clear > Frame.

Rotate Photo – Rotating the photo can be done by right clicking on the photo and selecting Rotate > and how you wish to rotate it.

Resize Photo – To resize the photo, click the photo to select it. Grab the bottom right corner of the photo and drag it inward or outward. Dragging it inward will shrink the photo down. Dragging it outward will make it larger.

• Applying Frames to Photos – The next step is applying frames to photos. Select the Edit Pieces tab at the top of Greeting Card Builder. Then click the Frames tab in the bottom right panel. Drop the box down and select the All option to view all of the frames. To add a frame, click the frame and drag it to the photo you want to add it too. You can also click the photo to select it and double click the frame you want to apply it too.

• Applying Masks to Photos – If you would prefer to use masks instead of frames, skip the step above and follow this step. In the bottom of the frames panel, you will also see the Masks tab. Click that tab to view the masks. To apply a mask to your photo, click the photo to select it and double click the mask you want to use.

• Applying Effects to Photos – Open the effects panel by clicking the Effects tab at the bottom of the Frames panel. Browse through the effects and find one you want to use. Apply the effect by selecting the photo and double clicking the effect.

Greeting Card Clipart

• Opening the Clipart Panel – The clipart panel can be opened by clicking Add Pieces at the top of your Greeting Card Builder program. That will open a panel in the bottom right corner of your greeting card software. Click the Clipart tab to open the panel.

• Adding Clipart – Before you start adding clipart, you can change the category to view what you want. The category box is located at the top of the panel and can be opened by clicking it. Select the category you want to view. When you find clipart you wish to use, click it and drag it to where you want it on the card.

• Resizing and Moving Clipart – To move clipart, click it to select it. Grab the center of it with your mouse and drag it to where you want it. To resize it, click it, drag the bottom right corner inward or outward.

Greeting Card Borders

• Opening Greeting Card Borders – Open the clipart panel you opened above. This is also where your borders are stored. When the clipart panel is open, click the category box and select the Border option. The borders will be displayed in the panel below.

• Applying Borders – You can apply borders by clicking the border and dragging it to where you want it.

• Resizing and Moving Borders – When you add borders to photos or greeting cards, you will probably need to resize them. Resize the borders by clicking them and dragging one of the corners with your mouse. You can drag the corner inward to make it smaller or outward to make the border larger.

Greeting Card Greetings

• Opening Greeting Panel – Open the greetings panel by clicking Add Pieces at the top of Greeting Card Builder. Then click the Greeting tab located in the bottom, right panel.

• Adding Greetings – Add greetings by selecting the category of greetings you want to view. Then double click a greeting in the bottom panel to add it to your greeting card.

• Changing the Greeting Text Properties – You can change the color of the text, the style, font, and size. To do this, double click the text and the properties box will open. Then make your adjustments and click OK to apply the new settings.

Greeting Card Text

• Creating Text – To create text, click Add Pieces at the top of the program. Right below that, click Add Text. The text box will then open and you can type what you want in the black box. Use the text options in the box to adjust your text. Click OK on the text box to add the text to the greeting card.

• Editing Text – If at any time you need to edit the text, double click the text and the properties box will open. From there, you can adjust the text settings, click OK and the adjustments will take place.

Sharing Your Greeting Card

• Print Greeting Cards – Click the Share tab at the top of the program. Click the Print button below the tab and change the printing options to what you want. Then print your card.

• Email Greeting Cards – Click the Share tab and click Send Via Email. When the properties box opens, change the settings to what you want. Click Next and follow the steps to send it by email. These cards are known as e cards because they are being sent by email.

• Save Greeting Cards – Click the Share tab and click Save Image As. When the box opens, change the location to what you want and adjust the other settings if you need too. Click the OK button and the card will be saved.

• Set Greeting Card as Wallpaper – Click Share and Set As Wallpaper. When you click Set as Wallpaper, you will need to select how you want to set it. The properties box will then open and you can click OK to continue and the card will be set as your wallpaper.

Greeting Card Builder Tips

• Edit Each Page – The above guide walks you through each step of creating your own greeting cards using the greeting card software. However, you will need to go through each page in your left panel and edit them.

• Sending via Email – Sending the card by email will not look exactly as it would if you printed the actual card. If you are creating one page greeting cards, they would work find sending them through email. If you use multiple pages, the multiple pages will be emailed.

• Clearing Items – If you add things like frames, effects, and shadows, you can remove them. To remove these items at any time, right click on them and select Clear > and what you want to clear.
