How to Use the Microsoft Works Dictionary
Microsoft Works offers a great dictionary with just about everything you are looking for. It also offers a Thesaurus to go along with it. The dictionary is very simple to navigate and you can set parental controls on it. If you have little ones that will be using this dictionary, it is a good idea to set parental controls. There are a lot of sex terms in this dictionary, so set the parental controls to protect your little one from this. This tutorial will show you how to open the dictionary, use the dictionary, and set the controls. So, let’s get started with this dictionary tutorial.
How to Open Your Microsoft Works Dictionary
You will need to open your task manager to start with. So, go to Start > All Programs. Locate the Microsoft Works link and hover over it. When the menu expands, click the Task Launcher link. At the top of your task launcher, you will need to click the Programs link. That will list your options down the left side of your window. On the left side of your window, you will see the Dictionary link. Click that link to open the dictionary. A small window will open and you will see the Dictionary.
How to Use the Microsoft Works Dictionary
When the Dictionary opens, you will see the Look Up field at the top. You can type what you want to look up in this field. Then click the Look Up button. You will see the options for the word you looked up in the second box. Click the word you want to view and it will be displayed in the bottom field.
You can also look through the list of words in the second box to select the word you want to look up. Click the word will display the definition in the bottom box. To see the Thesaurus for the word, click the Thesaurus tab at the bottom. To switch back to the definition of the word, click the Definition tab.
How to Set Parental Controls for the Microsoft Works Dictionary
Now, I will show you how to set the parental controls on the dictionary. On the box you have pulled up, you will notice the Parental Controls button. Click that button and a password box will open. Enter a password in the top box and reenter the same password in the second box. Then click the Continue button at the bottom of the box.
Now tick the Filter Dictionary Content field. This will filter the content. Click the Save Settings button to save the filter. That will apply the filter to the dictionary. To reverse the filter, click the parental controls button again and select the other option.
