How to Switch MySpace Web 2.0 Back to 1.0
This tutorial will show you how to switch your MySpace Web 2.0 back to 1.0. After upgrading my account to Web 2.0, I realized there were just some things I didn’t like about 2.0 and wanted to return to 1.0. However, I couldn’t figure out how to downgrade my account. It took me quite sometime to figure out how to downgrade my MySpace account. This tutorial will walk you through the steps of downgrading your MySpace Web 2.0 back to 1.0.
You should note that everything you installed while using Web 2.0 will be lost when you downgrade. You will have to reinstall everything. Your MySpace account will go back to the way you had it before you upgraded it. If you decide to upgrade to Web 2.0 again, everything you had installed will be gone. You will have to start from scratch again. So, either way, you are just about going to have to start over.
So, let’s get started. You will need to login to your MySpace account. You will then need to navigate to your homepage. At the top of the homepage, you will need to mouse over Profile, then click on Customize Profile.
Your profile page will load and you will see the customize box at the top of the page. You are looking for the button that says Go Back. This button should be located on the right side of your profile at the very top. Click that button and a box will open. The box will ask if you are sure you want to return to 1.0. Click the Switch to Profile 1.0 to switch back and downgrade your profile. You will now be carried back to your old layout and theme. Everything you had on your 1.0 profile will now return.
If you decide that you want to upgrade to web 2.0 again, you can. You will have to go through all of the steps of applying your themes, managing your modules, and changing your layout. To upgrade to Web 2.0 again, follow these steps. Go to your homepage and mouse over Profile in your navigation bar. In the menu, click Customize Profile. A new page will load and you will need to click the Upgrade button. Your profile will then be uploaded again.
Web 2.0 and 1.0 are great. I like 1.0 because I have more control over my themes. However, I will 2.0 because I have more control over my modules. You can hide modules in 1.0 but you have to use code, whereas in 2.0, you can hide them simply by clicking the hide button.
